Virtual numbers

What are virtual numbers?

A virtual telephone number is a number which isn’t linked to a telephone line.

When someone calls your virtual number the call goes through to our data centre and then out to whichever phone you’ve directed it to, whether that’s a landline, mobile or VoIP device. This all happens in an instant so your caller will have no idea they’re calling a virtual number.

If you’re running a small business, a virtual number is a great way to give yourself a more professional image, rather than using a mobile or home phone number.

For SMEs or global organisations, virtual numbers allow you to promote a local presence in the UK without having to physically be in that location. You can run a “London office” with an 02 telephone number, wherever you happen to be based.

Virtual numbers are ultra flexible – you can divert calls instantly to a telephone number of your choice. You can also use virtual numbers in your advertising to track which campaigns are winning you work – see our call tracking page for more details.

Virtual numbers are great for keeping track of your call data. Detailed statistics are stored online and will show who called when and for how long. Our call centre clients find the call data particularly useful but all businesses can benefit from keeping track of time spent on calls.

Take a look at our numbers pages so you can get a feel for the range of numbers available. You can pick your own number or numbers online and be up and running within a matter of minutes.

We don't tie you into a contract and you can cancel your virtual number at any time. You can simply delete the number from your account via the online portal and your subscription will stop.

Do you charge for changing my redirect number?

No. You can change your redirect number using the online portal as many times as you like.

Are there any other hidden charges?

No. We're very proud of our clear and easy to understand pricing. Unlike some providers we charge our calls to the second with no call connection charges, minimum call durations, or rounding the duration of the call up to the next minute.

What payment methods do you offer?

We offer Paypal and Direct Debit.

Can I route my virtual number to a mobile phone?

You can route your virtual number to a mobile phone. The pricing for this depends on the type of virtual number you choose.

Yes. Each user account is VoIP enabled by default so you simply need to configure your device to register with our platform using the login credentials on your dashboard.

How many concurrent calls can I receive on my virtual number?

You can receive as many concurrent calls on your virtual number as you are capable of handling. You are only limited by the number of lines available to your target number.

I would like to port my existing virtual number to Invoco. Is this possible?

Yes. We simply require you to fill out a Letter of Authority to enable us to contact your existing provider and to start the process. The length of time it takes to port the number can vary significantly depending on whether or not we already have a porting agreement with your existing provider. For further information please contact our Sales Team. Some network providers will also charge an administration fee to port a number away from their network so you should also clarify this with your existing provider.

I would like to port my Invoco virtual number to another provider. Is this possible?

Yes. You will need to fill out a Letter of Authority with your new provider who will then contact us to commence the porting process. The length of time it takes to port the number can vary significantly depending on whether or not we already have a porting agreement with the new provider. There is a minimum service term of 12 months for numbers to be ported away from our network and we would charge a £20 administration fee.

Can my virtual number be called from overseas?

Calls to our 01, 02 and 03 virtual numbers can be made from overseas. Calls to our 08 numbers may be possible but this cannot be guaranteed. If you have overseas clients then it is advisable to offer them an alternative geographic number to call.
