Ever found yourself in a position where you need to call a remote colleague on your Hosted PBX system and you’re constantly getting calls going through to voicemail?
Or even worse, you’ve taken a call from a client which you need to transfer to a remote colleague and you end up transferring that call to your colleague’s voicemail and you can’t get the call back?
Wouldn’t it be great if you could see if your colleague was free to take the call before you transferred that call? This is where the BLF feature comes in…
BLF stands for Busy Lamp Field and is a great feature, particularly for teams working remotely. Depending on the model of your phone, some of the buttons on your phone can be programmed as BLF keys. Each BLF key will show the phone status of one other person on your PBX or phone system which will quickly show you if they can take a call or not.
GREEN means the person is available to take the call and RED means they’re not. Simple. Each BLF key shows the status for an individual extension/user on the phone system so if you’ve got 5 people in your team, you’ll need 5 BLF keys
